The Acrocanthosaurus is a therapod that lived in the Early Cretaceous Period, appx. 15 million years ago. The name means, "High Spine Lizard." The Acrocanthosaurus has seventeen inch spikes from its neck to its tail. It was over 40 feet long, and weighed up to 6 tons! Its head alone was around 4.4 fwwt in length. This dinosaur was also known to hunt larger sauropod species, which is uncommon for a therapod.
The Acrocanthosaurus lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.
