Knightia Humilis Fish Fossil Replica
Thousands of these specimans have been found in the Green River Formation in Wyoming. The Knightia is the State of Wyoming's official State fossil. This six inch fish swam in vast schools throughout the lakes and rivers of Eocene North America. It was also on the bottom of the food chain which led to large quantities of Knightia being a food source for larger predators. Because of the size of the Knightia, they did not feed on other fish, instead they fed on tiny marine organisims like plankton or diatoms.
