Saber Tooth
A licensed cast of the actual canine tooth found in the La Brea Tar Pits. This elongated tooth was a powerful and efficient weapon in stabbing and tearing the soft undersides of its prey. The Saber-Tooth Tiger was a dominant predator in North America over 10,000 years ago. This cat was slightly shorter, but much heavier than a modern lion and they were able to weigh up to 660 pounds and reach 79 to 98 inches in length. The lifespan of this cat is not exactly known, but it is believed that they were able to survive anywhere from 20 to 40 years. Due to its name, people are lead to believe that this cat is directly related to tigers, which is not the case. Saber-Tooth Tigers are only distantly related to lions, cheetahs and tigers.
Casting is 9" long.
