Camarasuarus means "Chambered lizard." It aquired this name because of the hollow chambers in its vertebrae. It lived during the Jurassic Period, approximately 150 million years ago. The Camarasaurus is a quadrupedal dinosaur, meaning it walks on all four legs. It was 24-64 feet long, 15 feet tall at the hips, and typically weighed about 20 tons. The Camarasaurus was an herbivore with an incredibly long neck, allowing it to reach tall trees and branches to eat. Additionally, the Camarasaurus ate stones to aid in the digestion of the plant materials.
