2018 Wild Safari Daedon Toy Model
The Daedon was an entelodont - a group of prehistoric hoofed mammals that resembled pigs. The name, Daedon, means "Dreadful Teeth". The head of a Daedon could be up to three feet long! They were omnivores, meaning they ate both plants and animals. They lived across the United States 20-30 million years ago.
The Daedon was discovered by paleontologist Edward Drinker Cope, but was not classified as a entelodont until about 30 years later. The Daedon was the largest known entelodont, standing 6 feet tall at the shoulder. Its exact relation to other members of the family is still not very well understood..
